The problem with leaving your fields fallow for almost a year is the brush and weeds go unchecked, especially the blackberries. As a family friendly farm, we are moving away from chemical pesticides and going with a more natural approach. Introducing Rose, Blanche and Sophia (the Golden Goats) three female Boer goats that are more than happy to tackle our brush problems. Using electric livestock netting we can rotate their 1600 square foot paddock, which also keeps them contained while protecting them from outside predators. We've also made a quick pop-up shelter with a livestock panel, tarps and dog chain that can be easily moved with the goats.
These ladies will serve a vital role in restoring our fence line and returning patches of pasture to regular grazing for cows. I've included a picture below to show their effectiveness.
